Laser Treatment for Hyperpigmentation

Everyone wants beautiful, clear skin. Not only is it a sign of youth and vitality, but it’s also a sign of self-care. As you get older, you’ve probably noticed your skin change in some not-so-desirable ways — wrinkles, laxity, and hyperpigmentation are just a few of the most common issues you’ve seen.

Located in Falls Church, Virginia, the skin care experts at Dontage use PicoSure to help erase some of the skin imperfections that come with aging. Now you can get even-toned skin with a dewy, bright complexion.

PicoSure: First of its kind

If you’re familiar with laser treatments, you probably know that most types use heat to break apart pigment. PicoSure stands ahead of the pack by using its one-of-a-kind technology.

By administering energy in a trillionth of a second, your skin’s pigment vibrates and breaks apart while leaving the healthy skin around it unharmed. This method of using less heat than traditional methods makes it a safer and more comfortable option for you.

PicoSure activates your body’s healing system so you’re left with softer, more supple skin. Its Focus Lens technology transforms laser bursts into subtle pressure waves that encourage Cell Signaling — your body’s communication process.

What it treats

If you’re like most, you probably have several skin concerns you’d like to treat. With PicoSure, you save time and money by addressing multiple problem areas in one treatment. PicoSure addresses skin concerns like:

Everyone’s skin is different and requires a different number of treatments. Most people need two to five treatments to get the results they want.

No pain, no downtime

PicoSure is a comfortable laser treatment for you regardless of your pain tolerance. Most of our patients tolerate the procedure well and don’t describe it to be painful. The sensation is similar to a rubber band being snapped against your skin.

Though most laser treatments require days to weeks of downtime, PicoSure requires no downtime. Some patients experience some mild redness that subsides in one to three hours. However, PicoSure is considered a “lunchtime procedure” because many patients squeeze it into their workday without anyone knowing they had work done.

What is the after care like?

Investing in a laser treatment that works is one of the best decisions you can make. Although there is no required after care with PicoSure, here are some tips you should follow to ensure you get the best results.

Some patients may experience sensitive skin post-treatment. Please refrain from scratching or touching your skin because this can irritate the skin even more.

Do not wear makeup immediately following your treatment. Foundation and face makeup contain chemicals and additives that may clog your skin and result in irritation.

Avoid using hot water on your face as this can be uncomfortable for your healing skin. Instead, use cool or lukewarm water and a gentle, oil-free cleanser. Do not exfoliate or use a scrub until your skin has fully healed.

Drink plenty of water, and moisturize your skin to help aid in the healing process. Always opt for a natural moisturizer with SPF and avoid scented products.
